Having a new baby is such a joy and everyone is excited, especially new mothers. However, with all the attention focused on the new baby, what about mom? While the primary focus should be on the baby, there should also be some special things just for mom too.

In the final weeks leading up to the birth, expectant moms need a little pampering. This is the time to give massage sessions for mom and other pampering things such as a manicure, pedicure and even a new haircut. If you are a friend of the expectant mom, consider cooking some meals and freezing them. Or, perhaps you can give her several gift certificates to her favorite take-out places to use when she is too tired from baby duty.

New moms are suckers for anything that recognizes their babies. Choose a darling picture of the new baby and transform it into a handy dandy diaper bag. There are several places on the internet that personalize bags. A mommy bracelet or necklace is a great idea for mom too.

Any gadgets to make life easier for mom are greatly appreciated too. A few years back, the boppy pillow for breast feeding babies was a hit and continues to be one. Diapers, formula and an assortment of diaper rash creams and baby care products are great too. Plus, that is less expense for mom!

Totally frivolous things for mom are important too. Scrumptious smelling lotions, bath gels and beauty products are great for mom. If the new mom likes tea or coffee, create a gift basket with her favorite products. A gift card to her favorite tea or coffee house is also a great idea.

Perhaps the most important gift for mom is time. Offer your services to look after the baby so mom can take a bath in peace or even a nap. Invite yourself over and cook dinner for mom and give her a break. Offer to go grocery shopping for her or clean her house. Anything you can think of for mom that takes just time and effort on your part is likely to be much appreciated.
